Recently Google announced it is changing the way things are seen in search results. Of course it is best to get your site up to compliance with this new structure. No more ugly URLs for site listings, but rather your site must be displaying friendly URLs and it will show the results as breadcrumbs for your pages or posts. This means your site has to be written with friendly URLs for Google’s indexing.

Why we are working hard to make sites and Wordress Sites Mobile Friendly!

Well-structured URLs offer users a quick hint about the page topic and how the page fits within the website. To help mobile searchers understand your website better when we show it in the mobile search results, today we’re updating the algorithms that display URLs in the search results to better reflect the names of websites, using the real-world name of the site instead of the domain name, and the URL structure of the sites in a breadcrumbs-like format.

Here is the way Google is showing us an example of how the new structure will look.

domain_replacement_before    domain_replacement_after

As you can see in the first image is how Google has been using the URL structure , which, depending on your site, this can lead to very LONG URLs. So to shorten these for mobile users they will now be using site names and breadbrumbs for users as seen in the second image.

Starting now what do you need to do to comply with Google’s newest method of Structured URLs?

Make sure you have all friendly URLs for all of your site structure.

You can test your structure markup by using the Testing Tool

Then you need to ask Google to recrawl your site.

This may take a little (or alot depending on your site URL structure currently) time and effort to get things right , however this is the only way to keep your site structure up to Google’s demands and keep your site displayed for users on any device.
